In your case Mom probably removed it or ate it and passed it outside like they do every evening. The 3rd one of the bunch seemed much younger in appearance than the first two. When we opened the box up to clean it out after they were gone, we expected to find the little one dead but the box was empty. When your two didn't make it due to the bugs, what happened to them? Did the parents remove it from the nest box or did the siblings eat it?
