Gulls Feeding on Spring Alewife Fish Run A Mini-Documentary

The worlds largest gulls, the Great Black-Backed Gull, Herring Gulls and a few of the much smaller ring-billed gulls which represent all 3 gull species found in coastal Maine partake in a feeding frenzy resulting from the annual spring run of Alewife fish or River Herring up the East Machias River to spawn in late May 2022. It was cold, foggy, spitting rain, windy and an overall dreary day which is not particularly unusual in coastal Maine in May as I found out, but the light was good enough for video and the scene was fascinating and beautiful. .
