Sparrow Feeds Cowbird Chick Parasite

Stay tuned for the full-length story of observing cowbird parasitism. Mother song Sparrow is exhausted feeding one of three of the huge fast-growing Brown Headed Cowbird chicks that she hatched when mother cowbird laid eggs in her nest. This is called brood parasitism. I do not think any of the song sparrow's eggs survived, but they are trying again on a second brood and I think the cowbirds have moved on.
