The gregarious Band of 18 or so Backyard Blue Jays has broken up into breeding pairs and building nests now and their behavior has changed noticeably. They are more cautious and reluctant to feed out of my hand and stick close to the heavy brush where there nests are hidden. See: https://youtu.be/eqs7vTrobfU Blue Jays are very secretive about their nests and build them in near inaccessible tangles of heavy brush so I have never seen one and rightly so for survival their trust of humans is less than at other times of the year.
