The stunning Brown Thrasher is known for out-singing its fellow mimics the Mockingbird, but they also make a unique loud, singular call often referred to as a "smack" call. You may hear this strange call around the Backyard and not know where it is coming from. Here is a great example of that call and of course the gorgeous bird making it. In this case the call is likely a contact call during the nesting season as the Thrasher prepares to visit the feeder for food for the little ones. I would love to find their nest, but they are experts at hiding them.
