Red Bellied Woodpeckers moved into the nest box after the Screech Owls left and now have two eggs - Surprise! Expect at least two more eggs with the first hatching around the 4th of July and then leaving the box toward the end of July. Woodpeckers are large, very loud and charismatic birds and the male is very involved in caring for the eggs and raising the hatchlings so this should be a lot of fun ! The male has the full red head and the female a white forehead so they are easy to tell apart on the color outside camera. Pay close attention and you'll catch the male sitting on the eggs at times. You can use the slider at the bottom of the video and go back and review the past 12 hours.
