Birds Eat Spiders and Steal Insects From Their Webs



One of Nature's many miracles revealed - millions of dew-covered spider webs glistening on a foggy Florida morning. Many species of birds regularly consume spiders as an important part of their diets. But the eating of spiders and stealing of prey from their webs, kleptoparasitism is rarely observed. The sheer numbers of spiders in the landscape is pretty stunning and I doubt the birds make much of a dent in their populations while gaining important nutrients.
