Acorns are a solid nugget of fat and protein and there has been a bumper crop of acorns in both North Carolina and Florida this fall! Thousands are on the ground in Backyard south. That will keep the squirrels busy, but it also exposes them to more danger as they get preoccupied with burying such a bounty. Predators can also take advantage of them during the intense harvesting activities.
