Shelled sunflower seeds always draw in the birds and Carolina Chickadee are the most frequent visitors. Usually with their calls preceding arrival or upon departure - And the male American Goldfinch with their sweet little calls tend to stay and eat. Bonus cameo visits by other favorite feeder birds. The Great Smoky Mountains is an are where both Carolina Chickadees and Black Capped Chickadees overlap and there are sometimes hybrids from interbreeding.

A Coopers Hawk takes a nice long bath in the cold Mountain Spring stream high in the Great Smoky Mountains. I capture one of these epic hawk baths once or twice a summer and they are mesmerizing to watch and in this case the sound is excellent. The House Finches are forming up into a flock very early this summer. About 20 Backyard finches formed a "charm" the other day and started hanging out together which I have not seen this early before.
