The Northern Crested Caracara is a stunning, but very strange member of the falcon family. They don't have a song and don't generally make much noise, but when disturbed, they occasionally make a hollow rattling sound as they throw their heads back and lift their bills to the sky. They tend to be more vocal during the breeding season which is going on now.
