This exasperating battle of wills between a tiny cotton rat and the resident Backyard Grackles over a little bit of spilled seed on the forest floor is humorous and entertaining on one level, neither of them can harm each other, but there is more going on here than meets the eye. To the Grackles the little rat is a pest, but to the rat the Grackles are life savers.
